Dash Daniels upon signing his first professional contract with Melbourne United.

Dash Daniels was named an All-Star and Defensive MVP at the Basketball Without Borders Camp.

  • Dash Daniels won Defensive MVP at the Basketball Without Borders Camp
  • He will be an NBL Next Star next season with Melbourne United
  • Is the brother of rising NBA talent Dyson Daniels from the Atlanta Hawks

NBA Defensive Player of the Year candidate Dyson Daniels could have competition from within his own family in the near future after younger brother, Dash Daniels, "wreaked havoc" at the 2025 Basketball Without Borders Global Camp at All-Star Weekend.

Daniels, who will play for Melbourne United next season as an NBL Next Star, impressed on his way to winning Defensive MVP at the camp as he further boosted his future NBA Draft stocks. He was also named in the All-Star selections from the event.

The Basketball Without Borders Global Camp is an annual feature of the NBA All-Star Weekend and includes the best young talent from around the world.

NBA Draft expert Johnathan Givony from Draft Express praised Daniels' defensive ability.

"Dash Daniels named Defensive MVP of the 2025 Basketball Without Borders Global Camp. Wreaked havoc on and off the ball all week with his 6'10 wingspan, strong frame, intensity and instincts. Offense still a work in progress, but showing improvement in several facets," he posted on X.

ProInsight also posted saying: "The lanky 6’5” PG has been a dominant force on the defensive side of the ball - disrupting opponents, causing deflections and coming up with steals. On the other end, he’s done a nice job generating paint touches and showcasing his skill as a finisher".

Daniels, 17, represented Australia at the FIBA Under-17 World Cup in Turkey last year and most recently played for Victoria at the Australian Under-20 Championships, with our expert Michael Houben recently naming him among the top five talents to look out for from the tournament. The Bendigo product showed his offensive skills are on the improve after shooting 34% from the three-point line at the tournament.

The youngster is the perfect fit for Dean Vickerman's system in the NBL at Melbourne, alongside the likes of Defensive Player of the Year, Shea Ili and is a top draft prospect for 2026.
