How Australians performed in the NBA on Tuesday, April 1 2025

  • Josh Green had 14 points, including three triples, as the Hornets secured a rare win
  • Josh Giddey was two rebounds shy of a triple-double against his former team
  • Jock Landale was a DNP Coach's Decision in Houston's loss to the Lakers

Australia's own Josh Green had a night to remember from the three-point line as he went without a miss from beyond the arc to help the Charlotte Hornets to a 110-106 win over the Utah Jazz at the Spectrum Center.

Green, known as a 'three and D' talent, went 3-from-3 from long range on his way to 14 points along with three assists and two rebounds to support Miles Bridges' big night (26 points and 10 rebounds) in Charlotte's four-point victory at home.

The Hornets established control early, taking a 28-21 lead in the first quarter with both teams scoring 26 points in the second quarter, allowing Charlotte to maintain their seven-point advantage heading into halftime.

Utah fought back in the third quarter, outscoring the Hornets 31-26 to cut the deficit to just two points entering the final period but Charlotte regained momentum in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Jazz 30-28 to secure the rare win.

With 6:42 remaining in the fourth quarter, Green hit a crucial three-pointer to put the Hornets up 94-88, giving Charlotte breathing room in the tightly contested game. Another key moment came with just under three minutes left when Miles Bridges connected on a difficult jumper to extend the lead to eight points, effectively sealing the win despite a late Jazz push.

Mark Williams was dominant inside the paint for Charlotte, scoring 18 points on an efficient 8-from-9 shooting from the field while grabbing 13 rebounds. For Utah, Keyonte George led the way with 20 points and had four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 32 minutes.

The Hornets' offensive efficiency was the difference in this contest as Charlotte shot an outstanding 53.8% from the field (43-from-80) compared to Utah's 40.6% (39-from-96). The Hornets were particularly effective from three-point range, shooting 39.5% (15-from-38) while the Jazz struggled at 26.9% (14-from-52).

Despite this win, the Charlotte Hornets (19-56) remain 14th in the Eastern Conference, far from playoff contention. Similarly, the Utah Jazz (16-60) sit at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. This matchup featured two teams looking toward the future rather than the current season's playoffs.

Chicago Bulls @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Josh Giddey was two rebounds shy of another triple-double in his return to Oklahoma City as the Bulls were beaten by the league's best team 145-117 at Paycom Center.

Giddey had 15 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds to continue his impressive form post All-Star break despite Chicago's big loss.

Sacramento Kings @ Indiana Pacers

Aussie Johnny Furphy recieved a DNP Coach's Decision as the Indiana Pacers beat the Sacramento Kings 111-109 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Aaron Nesmith led the way for Indiana with 24 points.

Los Angeles Clippers @ Orlando Magic

Ben Simmons (injury management) watched from the sidelines as the Los Angeles Clippers earned a hard-fought 96-87 road win over the Orlando Magic.

Patty Mills was a DNP Coach's Decision.

Houston Rockets @ Los Angeles Lakers

Aussie big man Jock Landale was a DNP Coach's Decision as the Houston Rockets lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 104-98 at Crypto.com Arena.
