Australian Opals and New York Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello is one of the best coaches in the world — but who knew, she also has some excellent comedic timing, reminiscent of the famous New York-based comedy institution Saturday Night Live.

The reigning WNBA champions started their training camp yesterday (April 28, 2025 AEST) and released a video welcoming their players back to what will be "our toughest year yet".

Before getting into the Xs and Os, Brondello said she had to "address the elephant in the room ...".

... which just happened to be an elephant mascot.

This is the elephant in the room that Sandy Brondello needed to address.

Coach Brondello, who re-signed with the Opals for the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028, will have her core back for the 2025 WNBA season with Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu suiting up for a tilt at going back to back.
