NBL hands down punishment for Kings star Adams

  • Jaylen Adams was ejected after making contact with the eye region of Wani Swaka Lo Buluk
  • Adams was ejected with 3:55 left in the game at the WIN Entertainment Centre
  • The Kings will host the Adelaide 36ers in a one-off play-in elimination game

Sydney Kings star Jaylen Adams will escape with a fine after being charged with eye gouging Wani Swaka Lo Buluk in the dying stages of their 95-75 loss to the Illawarra Hawks at the WIN Entertainment Centre on Friday night.

The incident happened with just under four minutes left in the game with the Kings trailing 83-71 as the pair came together after making contact off the ball before Adams appeared to make contact with the eye of Swaka Lo Buluk.

The former MVP was ejected from the game following the incident but Adams will be available to play in the Kings play-in elimination game against the Adelaide 36ers after the NBL handed down their findings today.

In a media release, the NBL Game Review Panel charged Adams with eye gouging or unreasonable or unnecessary contact to the eye region of Swaka Lo Buluk.

"The incident has been determined as intentional, low impact and high contact resulting in a one-game suspension or a $1550 fine with an early guilty plea," the release said.

Adams struggled in the loss to the Hawks with just 14 points on 4-11 shooting as Sydney's inconsistent season continued.
