Ben, Duop, Matisse miss chance to go at it

Six Australians log NBA minutes on January 15, 2025
- Josh Giddey has rebounds and assists double-double
- Dyson Daniels has three more steals, still leads the league
- Alex Ducas and Johnny Furphy both got minute(s)
In a perfect situation, three Australians would have gone at it when the Brooklyn Nets visited the Portland Trail Blazers.
But nothing is ever perfect. Australian Boomers Duop Reath and Matisse Thybulle are facing separate struggles for the Blazers while Ben Simmons was the only Australian to play significant minutes.
Matisse Thybulle has a right ankle sprain and is still trying to work his way back. Word is he is reconditioning and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Reath is part of significant trade speculation. He is getting only limited minutes this season and was only in the game for one as the Nets handled the Blazers 132-114.
Simmons took just six shots in 26 minutes but had nine rebounds, 11 assists and five fouls.
Simmons is averaging 6.3 points per game, 5.2 rebounds, and 7.0 assists on 56% from the field.
He hasn't attempted a three in 30 games this season.
New Orleans Pelicans @ Chicago Bulls
Chicago's Australian point guard Josh Giddey was the on the wrong side of 119-113 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans but not for the want of grabbing boards and making plays. But his 2-from-12 attempts from the field, including 1-from-6 from three, was less than ideal.
Giddey finished with 13 rebounds, 12 assists, four steals and a block in 34 minutes.
The Bulls dropped to 18-22 on the season.
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Indiana Pacers
Australian rookie forward Johnny Furphy had front row seats to Cavs superstar Donavon Mitchell's 35-point performance as Cleveland overwhelmed the Pacers 127-117.
Furphy got into the game for a minute but didn't record any statistics.
Phoenix Suns @ Atlanta Hawks
Australian Dyson Daniels record his average steals in the return clash against the Phoenix Suns. He had three as the Atlanta Hawks edged past the visiting suns 122-117. He also had four boards, three assists and nine points in 34 minutes. Daniels from 4-from-11 from the field.
Oklahoma City Thunder @ Philadelphia 76ers
Alex Ducas logged two minutes in OKC's 16-point demolition of the 76ers.
Ducas grabbed a rebound as the Thunder rolled over the top of Philadelphia 118-102.
Denver Nuggets @ Dallas Mavericks
Dante Exum is still out of the Mavericks line-up.
