Australian basketball legend and three-time Olympian Andrew Bogut has signed as an assistant coach for the Sydney Kings for the 2025/26 NBL season.

Bogut, already a part owner of the Kings who won NBL MVP in 2019 with Sydney, was announced by the club today as part of changes to Brian Goorjian's coaching staff.

“Being a three-time Olympian and an NBA champion, Andrew has a blue-chip pedigree,” Goorjian said in a release from the Kings.

“His knowledge of the game is elite and I know he will be a very valuable addition to our coaching staff.

“Andrew and I already enjoy a strong relationship and I am excited and feel fortunate to have someone of his calibre by my side.”

In the release, Bogut said he was eager to contribute to the team’s championship ambitions.

“Being away from the game for five years, the itch to get back on the court was growing stronger with time,” he said.

“I’m honoured to step into this position and work alongside Brian.

“Coaching is something I’m passionate about, and I can’t wait to help drive this team forward.”

The change to the Kings' coaching staff comes after a disappointing year by Sydney's standards, losing to the Adelaide 36ers in the play-in elimination game at Qudos Bank Arena.
