Australian Will McDowell-White has standout performance against Bayern Munich

  • Will McDowell-White has best EuroLeague performance since return from injury
  • ALBA Berlin languishing at the bottom of the standings
  • Carsen Edwards lights up the Berliners for 34 points

In a stunning display of offensive firepower, FC Bayern Munich overwhelmed ALBA Berlin 99-84 in a crucial EuroLeague matchup at the Uber Arena on Saturday, January 25. 2025.

Led by Carsen Edwards' explosive 34-point performance, Bayern shot lights out from beyond the arc to secure a vital road victory and strengthen their position in the playoff race.

The game remained competitive early, with ALBA keeping pace through the first quarter behind strong play from Australian guard Will McDowell-White.

However, Bayern began to assert their dominance in the second period, unleashing a barrage of three-pointers that ALBA simply couldn't match. Andreas Obst caught fire from long range, draining 6 of 7 attempts from deep en route to 21 points.

As Bayern's lead ballooned to double digits, ALBA struggled to find answers defensively. The home side battled valiantly to stay within striking distance, but each time they threatened to make a run, Edwards or Obst would silence the crowd with another dagger from downtown. Bayern's ball movement was crisp throughout, generating open looks and finishing with 22 assists compared to ALBA's 16.

The numbers tell the tale of Bayern's offensive masterclass. The visitors connected on a blistering 18-from-36 three-point attempts, good for 50% from beyond the arc. In contrast, ALBA managed just 9 of 28 from deep, unable to keep pace with Bayern's long-range assault. Edwards was the catalyst, pouring in 34 points on 11 of 22 shooting, including 5 of 13 from three-point territory.

While Edwards rightfully garnered headlines, it was a complete team effort for Bayern. Nick Weiler-Babb stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in a strong two-way performance. Niels Giffey provided a spark off the bench against his former club, chipping in 10 points on perfect 4 of 5 shooting.

Will McDowell-White led the way with 18 points and six assists, while Yanni Wetzell added 14 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome Bayern's offensive onslaught.
