Melbourne's Last-Tear Poa has a new home after announcing she has joined Arizona State University for her final year of college basketball.
Poa, who won a National Championship with LSU in 2023 under Kim Mulkey after beating Caitlin Clark's Iowa 102-85, entered the NCAAW Transfer Portal for her last year of college eligibility following three seasons with the Tigers
The 23-year-old makes the switch to the Sun Devils, the same college of NBA superstar James Harden, after a season where she played 30 games for LSU in 2024-25, averaging 12.9 minutes, 2.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
"Before God elevates you, he’s gonna show you everyone’s heart around you so you will know who to take with you and leave behind," Poa said in her Instagram post announcing her move to Arizona State.
Poa played 102 games for the LSU Tigers, starting 27 times, with a majority of her minutes, points, rebounds and assists coming in the 2023-24 season. She scored 360 points in total for the Tigers, grabbed 126 boards, dished 207 assists, 66 steals, and 20 blocked shots.
"I am deeply thankful for the opportunities I’ve received, the mentors and supporters who have guided me, and the connections I’ve built with my teammates, trainers and coaches," she said when she made the decision to transfer from LSU.
"To the fans I LOVE YOU guys. Thank you for having my back every step of the way. The energy at PMAC and throughout Baton Rouge is something I’ll always cherish.
"From day one, you made me feel at home, and I am incredibly grateful for your constant support. It meant everything to me.
"Baton Rouge has truly become my second home, and this community will forever hold a special place in my heart.
"This year has changed me in ways I never expected. It helped me become a stronger PERSON and player.
"This season taught me TOUGHNESS.
"God opened this door for me and I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to extend my college journey with another year of eligibility.
"After much reflection, I’ve made the decision to enter the transfer portal."
"Geaux Tigers, Forever 13🐯💜💛."
Before arriving at LSU, Poa made a significant impact at the junior college level, where she attended Northwest Florida State College and quickly established herself as one of the top JUCO players in the country.
Her freshman season was nothing short of spectacular, culminating in a NJCAA National Championship.
Poa's performance during the tournament was extraordinary, earning her the NJCAA Tournament MVP award. Her statistics during the championship run were impressive, averaging 23.0 points per game while playing every minute of every game.
She showcased her shooting prowess with a 44.9% field goal percentage and an even more remarkable 43.5% from beyond the arc.
