At basketball.com.au our motto is Elevate and Cultivate. basketball.com.au's Generation Next extends to everyone in the Australian basketball community with dreams and goals of getting involved in the sport we all love.
We don't just want cover Australia's amazing basketball community — we want to help it grow. By reinvesting in the sport's ecosystem, supporting emerging talent, and championing the game at all levels, it's our goal is to contribute to basketball's sustainable future in Australia. And to help you achieve your own basketball dreams.
2024 Ausplay data revealed more than 1.05M Australian adults play basketball (25% of which are women) making it the second highest team participation sport in the country. About 7% of Australian kids playing basketball at all junior levels, including reps.
We already have a great foundation — and you can be a part of its continued growth.
What it means for you

Immediate Opportunities
Content contributors: Our goal is to be the most comprehensive basketball destination in Australia and to do that we need multi-media content creators in every State. These are paid part-time roles (per article, per packages or on-going contract) because your time and effort is valuable.
What we need right now
One person in every state and Territory (NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, NT, and ACT) to be our boots on the ground, covering local hoops and representative basketball, submitting at least one article + video per week that wraps up all the important games, players and news from across all leagues.
Experience: You don't need to be a seasoned pro, our team will help you become a better writer, how to shoot better video and help you find out how to gather the information you need to be successful and grow. Our only ask is that you're passionate, dedicated and up for it!

About the Author
Peter Brown is the head coach of the Sydney Comets Women’s Youth League team in the Waratah Basketball League in NSW. He is also the assistant coach for the Comets NBL1 women’s team in the NBL East Conference. Peter is a 30-year journalist, starting as a sports reporter at the NT News in the early 1990s. He played junior basketball for the Northern Territory at national championships from U16 to U20 and for the Territory’s senior men’s team at numerous international tournaments.
