The Brisbane Bullets have signed New Zealander and former Virginia Cavaliers guard Taine Murray on a two-year NBL deal, sources told basketball.com.au.

Murray, a 194cm guard from Auckland, averaged 4.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists for Virginia last college season but comes to Brisbane as a marksman from beyond the arc after shooting 41.9% and 45% from the three-point line in the past two years.

He averaged more than 18 minutes per game for the Cavaliers last season and started six games.

Murray is the first signing for the Bullets since the announcement of the appointment of former Senior Basketball Advisor Stu Lash as the franchise's new head coach.

The 22-year-old previously played for the New Zealand Breakers as an 18-year-old and also has represented the Tall Blacks in the FIBA Qualifying Window.

He joins a roster that already features Casey Prather, Tyrell Harrison, Sam McDaniel, Tohi Smith-Milner and Mitch Norton. While there is interest in bringing James Batemon, who is under contract, and KeAndre Cook back to the Bullets.
