Today was a good day.
Ice Cube first rapped that lyric in his 1992 hit song, but for Australian basketball fans, it is set to come true later this year as the iconic rapper-turned-sports mogul announced that he is bringing his burgeoning Big 3 League to Australia in November.
The Los Angeles native, who founded the 3x3 league in 2017, has previously hosted regular-season international games, but this will be the League’s first international showcase event.
In an exclusive interview with basketball.com.au, Ice Cube said that the NBL’s reputation globally played a big part in wanting to partner up with the Australian league.
"I know they love basketball in Australia. The NBL is one of most credited leagues in the world," the rapper said.
"Our dream is still connecting with the best basketball leagues in the world, and bringing the Big 3 exhibitions [and] showing what’s great about our style of 3-on-3."

Cube, a die-hard Lakers fan, is never shy to express himself on all topics hoops and in a wide-ranging interview added a few suggestions on how he might make NBA games a little more exciting, his thoughts on Aussies in the NBA, and of course, his beloved purple-and-gold.
