Three Australians log minutes in NBA on January 16, 2025

  • Jock Landale out against the Sacramento Kings
  • Duop Reath gets three minutes for Portland
  • Alex Ducas logs seven minutes for OKC

Houston Rockets Australian centre Jock Landale has missed his second straight NBA game because of personal reasons. He didn't play against the Denver Nuggets yesterday (January 16, 2025) and he didn't suit up for the Southwest Conference leaders against the Sacramento Kings on January 17, 2025.

The Kings held on to beat the Rockets 132-127.

The 29-year-old Boomer's absence has not been explained other than being listed out "for personal reasons".

Boomers teammate Jack McVeigh is playing for Rio Grande in the G-League as part of his two-way deal with the Rockets.

Landale is playing the least amount of minutes per game in his four-year NBA career. He's averaging 9.2 minutes per game in the 20 games he's played. He was logging 14+ minutes for the Phoenix Suns in 2022-23.

He is averaging 2.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, just under an assist and half a block a game.

Landale's return date is unknown.

LA Clippers @ Portland Trail Blazers

Australian centre Duop Reath got into the game for three minutes at the back end of a massive 118-89 blow-out loss in Portland to the LA Clippers.

Reath made the most of it too, scoring four points on 1-from-2 from the field and two free throws.

Matisse Thybulle is still out with a sprained ankle. His return is still being evaluated.

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Alex Ducas played his second most amount of minutes in his NBA rookie year in the Thunder's thumping 134-114 win against the Eastern Conference leading Cleveland Cavaliers.

Ducas played seven minutes, he didn't score but did grab an offensive board.

Indiana Pacers @ Detroit Pistons

Australian forward Johnny Furphy was a DNP-coach's decision in the Indiana Pacers 111-100 win against the Detroit Pistons.
