36ers' White stars with giant double-double
NBL1 West Round 2 on April 14, 2025: Stars shine as Rockingham stand out
- Isaac White exploded for 34 points while adding 12 rebounds and 7 assists in Rockingham's comfortable win against Cockburn
- Marshall Nelson and Terrico White combined for 30 points as Eastern Suns defeated Perry Lakes 77-68
- Julian Pesava led Mandurah with 29 points on efficient shooting as they pulled away from Lakeside
Rockingham @ Cockburn
Newly signed Adelaide 36ers guard Isaac White delivered an exceptional performance with a 34-point and 12-rebound double-double to power Rockingham past Cockburn in the NBL1 West.
White also added seven assists while Jervon Pressley contributed 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Ryan Godfrey added 16 points, six rebounds and five assists for the victors.
Cockburn struggled to contain Rockingham's offensive firepower despite Josh Hunt's 21-point effort and Kortland Martin's 16 points. The visitors dominated the glass, outrebounding Cockburn 56-35, and shot an impressive 46.8 percent from the field. Rockingham built their lead to as many as 22 points, having tremendous success inside with 50 points in the paint compared to Cockburn's 40.
Eastern Suns @ Perry Lakes
The Eastern Suns claimed a hard-fought 77-68 victory against Perry Lakes at Bendat Basketball Centre.
Marshall Nelson led the Suns with 16 points and five rebounds, while veterans Terrico White and Travis Fee each contributed 14 points. Fee added eight rebounds to his tally, helping Eastern Suns control the boards 41-35.
Perry Lakes struggled offensively, shooting just 38.1 percent from the field despite Jaden Stanley-Williams' team-high 17 points. The Suns' defence forced 11 turnovers and recorded eight steals, converting them into 10 points. Eastern Suns dominated in transition, outscoring Perry Lakes 20-2 in fastbreak points, and were particularly effective inside with 46 points in the paint to Perry Lakes' 26.
Lakeside @ Mandurah
Mandurah cruised to a convincing 103-82 win against Lakeside at Lakeside Recreation Centre with Julian Pesava starring with 29 points on efficient 47.4 percent shooting.
Sammie Freeman also added 22 points on an outstanding 76.9 percent shooting from the field and Jahcoree Ealy filled the stat sheet with 16 points, six rebounds, eight assists, four steals and two blocks for Mandurah.
Despite AJ Wilson's 24-point performance for Lakeside, the home team couldn't overcome Mandurah's superior shooting and ball control. The visitors shot a stellar 53 percent from the field, including an exceptional 52.4 percent from three-point range. Mandurah's defence disrupted Lakeside's offense, forcing 22 turnovers which they converted into 13 points.
Lakeside kept the game close early with 14 lead changes, but Mandurah eventually pulled away to lead by as many as 29 points.
Geraldton @ Perth
Geraldton dominated Perth 107-69 at Active West Stadium with Akeem Springs leading the way with 26 points on an outstanding 73.3% shooting from the field. Joshua Keyes recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Johny Narkle added 17 points, including four three-pointers.
Geraldton's offense was clicking on all cylinders, dishing out 30 assists compared to Perth's 14. The visitors shot an efficient 54.1% from the field and built a commanding 43-point lead at one stage. Joe Cook-Green led Perth with 21 points, but the team struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 26.3% on three-point attempts. Geraldton's defence was equally impressive, recording 14 steals and nine blocks in the lopsided victory.
East Perth @ Mandurah
Mandurah edged East Perth 114-109 at Mandurah Aquatic & Rec Centre in a high-scoring affair.
Lachlan Bertram was outstanding with 35 points for Mandurah, shooting an efficient 51.9% from the field. Julian Pesava delivered a stellar double-double performance with 30 points and 10 rebounds while adding three assists and three steals.
East Perth's Lee Roberts tallied 32 points on impressive 55% shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range. The game featured 10 lead changes and remained close throughout, with neither team leading by more than 14 points. Mandurah's dominance in the paint proved decisive, outscoring East Perth 70-38 inside while shooting a solid 58% on two-point attempts. Taylor Young dished out 12 assists for East Perth in the losing effort.
Rockingham @ Warwick
Warwick overwhelmed Rockingham 134-109 at Warwick Stadium behind Elijah Pepper's explosive 51-point performance.
Pepper shot 53.3% from the field, including nine three-pointers, while adding six assists. Cooper Creek contributed 25 points with seven triples, and Tyler Shand recorded a double-double with 10 assists and 13 rebounds.
Isaac White led Rockingham with 36 points on efficient 56.5% shooting, but his efforts weren't enough to overcome Warwick's three-point barrage. The home team connected on 28 of 58 attempts from beyond the arc (48.3%) compared to Rockingham's 8-of-24. Warwick built a 32-point lead at one stage and maintained control throughout the game, with George Pearl adding 23 points on a sizzling 77.8% shooting from three-point range.
Eastern Suns @ Willetton
Willetton secured a hard-fought 99-88 victory against Eastern Suns at Ray Owen Sports Centre as Damien Scott led the Tigers with 20 points on outstanding 64.3% shooting.
Taeshon Cherry added 19 points and seven rebounds. Tyreese Davis contributed 15 points and six boards in the win.
Travis Fee paced Eastern Suns with 27 points and eight rebounds, while Terrico White added 22 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in the losing effort. The game featured seven lead changes with both teams holding 13-point leads at different points. Willetton's defence proved decisive, forcing 21 turnovers and recording 13 steals. The Tigers also dominated second-chance points 15-7, capitalizing on their 14 offensive rebounds.
Cockburn @ Joondalup
Joondalup defeated Cockburn 102-83 at Wally Hagan Stadium with Joey Baker and CJ Turnage each scoring 24 points for the Wolves.
Ethan Elliott added 21 points on efficient 61.5% shooting while dishing out eight assists. Baker knocked down four three-pointers, while Turnage controlled the paint with all 12 of his field goals coming from two-point range.
Kortland Martin led Cockburn with 23 points, including five three-pointers, while Josh Hunt contributed 19 points and three assists. Joondalup dominated the rebounding battle 44-30 and shot an impressive 71.8% on two-point attempts. The Wolves steadily built their lead throughout the game, reaching a 22-point advantage at one stage while holding Cockburn to just 41.7% shooting from the field.
Goldfields @ SW Slammers
Goldfields defeated SW Slammers 106-93 at Niels Hansen Basketball Stadium behind a balanced attack as Shaun Stewart orchestrated the offense with 27 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.
Michael Jok added 26 points with five three-pointers. De'Sean Parsons recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Jamal Poplar was dominant for the Slammers with 32 points and 12 rebounds on efficient 66.7% shooting, adding five assists. Devan Craig contributed 15 points for the visitors. Goldfields shot an impressive 44% from three-point range compared to the Slammers' 25% and maintained control throughout, leading by as many as 25 points. Joshua Duach added 20 points and six rebounds for the victorious Giants, who connected on 80.8% of their free throw attempts.
