Rivals Rounds to start NBL1 2025 in North Conference

Emotions will run high to start the 2025 NBL1 North season, with a blockbuster-filled Rivals Round beginning the campaign.

Tipping-off on Thursday, May 1, the opening NBL1 North round will see local derbies and long-standing rivalries take centre stage, beginning with the Gold Coast Rollers facing the Ipswich Force, which is a rematch of the 2023 Grand Final.

The battle of Far North Queensland between the Townsville Flames/Heat and the Cairns Dolphins/Marlins will take place on Saturday May 3, while another regional feud between the Mackay Meteors/Meteorettes and the Rockhampton Cyclones/Rockets is sure to cause fireworks on the same day.

With 12 clubs and 24 teams gearing up to take to the court, the 13-round NBL1 North season is set to be the most competitive yet.

Highlights of the campaign will include the returning Themed Rounds, Heritage Round and First Nations Round, which will provide several marquee moments throughout the season.

From Far North Queensland to the Gold Coast, local communities of the state will have 168 NBL1 North games to look out for, before heading into the post-season in August.
