Geelong United bolsters its NBL1 teams with a recruit believing in their title chances.

Geelong United’s newest NBL1 women's signing believes her team, packed with WNBL talent, has the making of a championship team while the club has announced their 2024 co-MVP's will return for the upcoming season, Meg Saultry and Ben Cameron from Code Sports Basketball reported.

Former Melbourne Boomers WNBL development player Lilly Rotunno is the latest to join United ahead of its upcoming NBL1 South women’s campaign, linking up with the likes of its WNBL talent in Jaz Shelley, Hannah Hank, Gemma Potter, Taylor Mole, Dakota Crichton and Tanielle Knight.

“With this group, I believe we can be a championship winning team," Rotunno said.

A former WNBL development player with the now defunct Melbourne Boomers, Rotunno reunites with United’s WNBL head coach Chris Lucas, who led the Boomers in its final years and will oversee the development of Geelong’s women’s program this winter.

Suiting up for NBL1 South rival Keilor in 2024, the Gold Coast product averaged 6.92 points, 3.04 assists, 3.08 rebounds and 1.52 steals per game.

While on the men's side, Geelong re-signed two key pieces of its 2025 men’s side in George Blagojevic and NBL1 South defensive player of the year DeMarcus Gatlin after the pair shared the best club player of the year last season.
