Four Australians and another NBL Next Star featured in ESPN's latest predictions.

  • Aussie big man Alex Condon was predicted to be picked 26th overall by the Atlanta Hawks
  • Fellow Australians Alex Toohey, Tyrese Proctor and Rocco Zikarsky also featured in the list
  • Phoenix Next Star Malique Lewis was also named in the top 60 prospects

Three months ago, he wasn’t anywhere to be seen on ESPN’s 2025 NBA Mock Draft, now Australian big man and Florida Gators star Alex Condon has risen all the way to a be a predicted first round selection.

Experts Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo had Condon, a 6’11” Sophomore from Western Australia, slotted to go at pick 26 by the Atlanta Hawks after the big man’s dominant season with Florida.

If the Hawks draft Condon, he would link up with Australian star Dyson Daniels and potential Australian Boomers coach Quin Snyder.

Condon's rise made even more impressive by the fact Givony and Woo didn’t have him in the top 60 prospects in their November 2024 predictions.

The 20-year-old, who made his debut for the Boomers against Japan last June, is averaging 10.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting at 50.3% from the field and 34.4% from beyond the arc.

“Condon is playing an essential role for the No. 3-rankedGators, as evidenced by his outstanding performance this past weekend, outplaying potential national player of the year candidate Johni Broome in a win at Auburn,” Givony said in the Mock Draft.

“The Australian big man acts as a significant playmaking hub in Florida's offense with his excellent ball handling and passing ability while covering ground fluidly defensively and making plays with his mobility and sharp basketball instincts.

“Still growing into his body in his fifth year of organised basketball, and with work to do on his perimeter shooting, another season at Florida could propel his standing into lottery territory next season, but his impactful two-way play is becoming increasingly hard for NBA scouts to look past.”

While Woo believed Condon could provide a major boost to the perimeter talent, such as Jalen Johnson, Australian NBA Steals leader Dyson Daniels and Zaccharie Risacher, if selected by the Hawks.

Condon left Florida’s win over Mississippi State yesterday with an ankle injury but x-ray results came back negative.

His rise up the draft predictions, could also have a major impact on AFL giants, Collingwood, who as a category B rookie late last year, with the contract to be voided if he was picked up by an NBA franchise.

Condon is one of four Australians featured in the latest Mock Draft with NBL Next Stars Alex Toohey (36 – Brooklyn Nets) and Rocco Zikarsky (51 – Utah Jazz) also included as well as Duke guard Tyrese Proctor, who was predicted to go at No.40 to the Philadelphia 76ers.

South East Melbourne Phoenix Next Star Malique Lewis featured at No.59 to the Houston Rockets but Perth Wildcats young gun, who was included in November’s Mock Draft, did not feature in Givony and Woo’s latest predictions.
