A halftime speech from one of the NBL's greats flipped game one of the championship series.
A Chris Goulding halftime spray was the ingredient that inspired a Melbourne United comeback to steal game one of the championship series over the Illawarra Hawks in the NBL’s most intimidating environment, Matt Logue and Michael Randall from Code Sports Basketball reported.
United backup guard Tanner Krebs revealed how Goulding flipped the series opener on its head when United trailed by double digits at halftime.
Melbourne looked flat trailing by 10 points at the break, shooting just 17-41 from the field (41.5 per cent), 4-16 from three (25 per cent) and added six turnovers.
Enter Goulding with some choice words in the locker room.
“We weren’t good enough in that first-half and Chris told us,” Krebs told Crosscourt.
“There is a lot of experience in our group, but it has really been CG (Goulding) driving us with his talk and accountability.
“We’ve been a solution-based team and there was a lot of discussion at halftime about how to be better.
“Chris drove that and when he speaks, we listen."
