Rebecca Allen scores milestone 1,500th point as Chicago Sky finish last in WNBA with 10–34 record

WNBA veteran Rebecca "Bec" Allen's first basketball season in Chicago ended in disappointed, knocked out of the playoffs early as the Sky endured a rollercoaster both on and off the floor in 2025.

The Sky went 10-34 as the 32-year-old Australian Opals star's numbers were down across the box score.

She came into training camp after recovering from a hamstring injury that ruled her out of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

But Allen was optimistic during Chicago's training camp earlier this year.

"I'm coming back from injury right now and I've, but I've been out of the game for seven months," she said.

"I've been building myself. So I think part of that is bringing people with you and it being a positive environment. And I feel like I'm doing that."

There was reason for that optimism. The Sky had a solid roster including Angel Reese, Courtney Vandersloot, Kamilla Cardoso and Ariel Atkins.

"I'm honestly getting more and more excited about it because you just see things really coming together and you see that we got unique bigs as well," she said.

"It's not that traditional just always back to the basket, sort of a slower pace. We're playing with pace. They're able to handle the ball.

"I just think that the way that our offense will be is gonna be exciting. And I know that it's just gonna be built on every single game as the season goes as well. It's not like Day 1 of the season's gonna be everything together. That's not the same for any team, you know. But  I'm genuinely really excited about this group."

Vandersloot blew out her knee early in the season, Reese was eventually suspended by the Sky for criticising the team in a reportedly tension-filled locker room.

Meanwhile, Allen scored her 1,500th career point, dropped a season high 27 points against the Dallas Wings on July 10, 2025. She went 9-from-13 from the field including 5-from-7 threes. She was also ejected for fighting during a heated clash against the Connecticut Sun in mid-August.
