Magbegor breaks Storm blocks record, again

Ezi Magbegor once again stands alone at the top of the Seattle Storm record books.
- The Seattle Storm are seventh on the WNBA standings after beating Minnesota 93-79
- Ezi Magbegor had eight points, seven rebounds, and two assists to go with five blocks in 30 minutes in the win
- Magbegor is second in the league for blocks per game at 2.21 per contest
Ezi Magbegor stands alone for the Seattle Storm, breaking her own franchise single season blocks record.
Magbegor currently has 85 blocks this season, after an 82-block effort in the 2024 season in 37 games. The previous record holder before her was Australian basketball goat Lauren Jackson, with an 81-block season in 2002.
While playing less minutes this season due to the rise of teammate and second overall draft pick Dominique Malonga, she is still having a significant impact on the court, averaging 8.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 blocks a game.
Magbegor is also the third youngest WNBA player to reach 300 career blocks, a milestone she reached in July of this year.
In her record-breaking game against the Minnesota Lynx and fellow Opal Alanna Smith, she had eight points, seven rebounds, two assists and five blocks in 31 minutes.
The Storm came back from a 21-point deficit to win 93-79, completing their second largest comeback win.
Smith is also having a great rim protecting season, averaging 9.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 2 blocks a night for the Lynx.
The Storm still has four regular season games remaining, with Magbegor looking to increase the record.
Seattle plays the Chicago Sky on Sunday, with the Storm continuing to look for a post-season berth.
