The Australian Boomers and Seven Consulting Opals will take on New Zealand’s Tall Blacks and 2Degrees Tall Ferns in the Trans-Tasman Throwdown

Aussie hoops fans will be able to watch the Trans-Tasman Throwdown on the 9Networks

Australians will get unrestricted access to the AUS v NZL Trans-Tasman Throwdown with the series broadcasted live and free from 7 -11 May with all games broadcasted live on the 9Network.

The revived rivalry series featuring the Australian Boomers and Seven Consulting Opals against New Zealand’s Tall Blacks and 2Degrees Tall Ferns will feature in official host destinations, Adelaide (7 May), Sunshine Coast (9 May) and Hamilton (11 May).

“The Trans-Tasman rivalry series is back and we are excited to have every game live and free on the 9Network for fans in Australia,” said Matt Scriven, Chief Executive Officer – Basketball Australia.

“The level of interest for basketball is at an all-time and there’s massive support for our national teams. We appreciate this partnership which will see the Boomers and Opals broadcasted across the country in May.”

On top of a guaranteed re-ignition of a historic rivalry, intensity will be heightened with Australia and New Zealand preparing for the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup tournaments later in 2025.

“The Boomers and Opals always provide box office viewing for Aussie sports fans and the Trans-Tasman Throwdown series against New Zealand should be no different, said Simon Fordham, Nine Wide World of Sports – Head of Partnerships & Strategy.  

“As the home of the Olympics all the way through to Brisbane 2032, we’re proud to further showcase the Boomers and Opals when the best basketballers from Australia and New Zealand are live and free for all to see here on the 9Network.”

All nine games of the Trans-Tasman Throwdown will be broadcasted live and free on the 9Network and available live and streaming service 9Now.
