Under-16 Pre-Season Basketball Training Program
Duration: 6 Weeks
Sessions per week: 2-3

Program Goals

Week 1: Core Fundamentals & Conditioning

- Full-court dribble attack drill – Players work on changing pace and direction under control
- Passing accuracy & decision-making drill – Players pass to moving targets while scanning the court
Skill Development (45 min)
- Ball-handling: Combo dribbles, hesitation, retreat dribbles – Players attack defenders with controlled dribbling.
- Passing: No-look, wrap-around, and one-hand passing – Players refine fast-paced passing mechanics.
- Footwork & spacing: Jab steps, rip-throughs, step-backs – Players focus on explosive movement and balance.
- Shooting: Mid-range, deep-range, and shooting off movement – Players work on in-game shot-making under pressure.
Scrimmage & Games (25 min)
- 3v3 controlled spacing drill – Players work on positioning and ball movement.

Week 2: Defensive Fundamentals & Handling Pressure
Focus: On-ball defense, team rotations, and breaking defensive pressure
Warm-up (15 min)
- Closeout & footwork drill – Players react to offensive movement and contest shots.
- 1-on-1 defensive containment drill – Ball-handlers try to break free while defenders stay in front.
Skill Development (45 min)
- Defensive footwork & angles: Cutting off drives, lateral recovery – Players refine defensive positioning.
- Defensive rotations: Help-side, switching, and pick-and-roll coverage – Players work on team communication.
- Rebounding & outlet passing: Boxing out and pushing transition – Players learn to secure rebounds and initiate the fast break.
